SUSTAINABLE GABRIOLA is a network of individuals and organizations on Gabriola Island, BC, committed to community resilience and stewarding our natural resources for the benefit of generations to come.
We share a common set of goals and a vision for a more sustainable Gabriola. We seek to build communication and collaboration to help further the broad cause of sustainability ― environmental, economic, and social ― in the face of the climate crisis and increasing societal challenges.
We usually meet the fourth Sunday afternoon of each month. All are welcome at our open, informal meetings. To be notified of upcoming meetings, sign up for our monthly email reminder. (You can unsubscribe at any time.)
Sunday August 29, 3-4:30pm
Location: Gabriola Commons, 675 North Rd.
Meet OUTSIDE near the Timberframe and bring a chair.
Since 2009, our hub of activity has nurtured, completed, or spun off a dozen initiatives on Gabriola. For example:
- over 700 heat pumps installed (Energy Gabriola – Heat Pumps),
- over 100,000 passengers on our community bus service,
- Fix-it Fairs held 3 times a year,
- fostering deep community dialogue in our latest initiative, Gabriola Talks!
